This was a bucket-list trip for my mother to see the Ark Encounter at Williamsburg, Kentucky. And there is definitely a lot of walking and plenty to see.
The Ark Encounter is a full-sized Noah's Ark replica built to the dimensions given in the Bible. It is 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high.
Those are people in the bottom left hand corner, to give you an idea of the size of the Ark.
Here's a video on YouTube that shows footage from a drone's perspective. I couldn't do it justice with my smartphone.
Once inside the Ark, there are three levels of exhibits that recreate what life on the Ark must have been like. From the engineering aspect of feeding and watering all the animals to the workshops and sleeping quarters there were displays on every level.
Here's what a blacksmith's area looked like:
And this was a depiction of Noah himself, recording the events on his scrolls:
This was a shot of the middle of the Ark, showing the huge beams. You can see people walking on the corridor on the right side.
This was depicted as a living quarters area:
All the display were in real life dimensions and populated with very lifelike people and animals. Some of the displays were even equipped with animated people who moved and talked.
I hope you enjoyed sharing some of my Ark Encounter experiences. All photos were taken with my Samsung Galaxy Note5, with the exception of the drone footage in the YouTube video.
