Today I took this photo, as I approached the water as usual, the swan headed towards me, but this time it showed visible hostility!
Usually they do it only when they have a cubs in May - June. It will protect and defend them with all available forces from any potential predator.
You can see half-raised wings that's some of their defensive positions but also the position for the attack. Many times I had the opportunity to watch them as they confront other swans, trying to get rid off from their territory.
I can tell you it's not a pretty sight. They mostly start to run waving their wings that all the time hit the surface of the water and created a great noise, sometimes the male even took off and literally chase the intruders until he is sure that they have moved away at least 2-3 kilometers from them.
The male quickly lowered his wings into a normal position, I guess he recognized me, he knew that I was not really a danger to him and his darling ! :)
