Happy new week and a lovely day to you all on this beautiful day, I hope you are doing great as I bring you all greetings from my sewing room, it is so nice to be here today to share with great pleasure the making of this simple design of a fabric necklace which was made from scrap fabric of two colors.
I have tried to make different things with the use of fabric lately, things that I thought might not be possible but which came to reality after putting together those pieces of fabric, these items are useful for me and well appreciated by people who saw what I made. Last week, I thought of a possible way to make a fabric bracelet which I did and it was decorated with a fabric sunflower, the outcome was so beautiful and nice as you can see.
Today, I decided to try a fabric necklace out and see what the outcome will look like and trust me, this is so beautiful. I have seen some crochet necklaces, plastic and so on, but as a seamstress, I decided to use fabric as well for my own necklace.
First thing I did was to cut out the rope for the necklace and I cut out a bias tape of 40 inches , i was folded and sewn on a straight line
The rope was set aside and I proceeded to the making of the fabric pendant, at first, I cut out 6 circles from a brown satin fabric
It was folded in two and held together with a pin
I wanted to proceed but on a second thought, I decided to combine it with a yellow satin to make it colorful so I cut out 3 circles from the yellow and 3 circles from the brown fabric with the diameter of 2.5 inches and it was folded in two again
With my hand needle and thread, I ran a long stitch on all the pieces and it was gathered together and secured to the first one.
To cover the rough part at the middle, I used B-6000 gum to fix a sliver applique on it
I used a small piece of fabric to cover the other side of the flower as well
I folded the rope in two and I placed the fabric flower at 14" below the neck with my gum and the silver applique was used to cover the back as well.
This is the final and beautiful outcome of my fabric necklace with fabric flower pendant.
Finally, I have my beautiful fabric necklace with flower pendant on my neck and you can see how beautiful it looks on me
