Greetings! I would like to introduce myself to the wonderful people of this community. I'm Jonathan or you may call me bigboycrafts or whatever suits your fancy.
I heard about this site from my girlfriend who is also a member here - @csalupado. I'm surprised at how such a community has been under my radar for quite a while but now I'm hoping to contribute and share to all of you what I have to offer.
So who am I and what do I do?
Well, I am many things but for now I am a polymer clay artist. I started making pieces around August 2017 so basically I'm still somewhat new to it. The moment I made my first piece, I fell in love with it. The feeling of transforming a block of clay into something significant feels so surreal and wonderful that I just can't help myself.
This was the first piece I ever made!
And I made this one exactly 6 months later as a remake, though it was inspired by Fenrir of Norse mythology!
I'm still not that good but I'm always striving to get better. I'm hoping one day that I'll be able to make something that will outlast me in this world we live in. I also love mythology and it shows on my crafts.
Why do I love polymerlay/sculpting?
Well, I was born with a birth defect which affect my bones and muscles. I get reminded everytime I see my hands and feet and from time-to-time, I still struggle with accepting it. But sculpting/polymer clay really helped me with this issue. Transforming blocks into my own little pieces made me see through the defects I have. I might not have been born with good hands but I will strive to create something good from them.
I think I'll stop here since I think that sums up who I am as a polymer clay artist. Cheers and hope you like and enjoy my pieces.
