Hello there, internet friends! How are you all doing? Today I want to share how my weekend went at the baby shower of a dear friend of mine and my family. She is the daughter of a lifelong neighbor of ours; in fact, my sister was her childhood playmate and even her English teacher for a while. Now, we are delighted to see her and her husband preparing to welcome a baby very soon—God willing. The baby's name is still unknown—it’s a total mystery; well, the parents-to-be aren't ready to share it with everyone just yet. What we *do* know is that it’s a boy, and we all hope—God willing—that he will be a healthy, strong baby, blessed by God.
¡Hola Hola, Gente de internet! ¿Cómo están? Hoy quiero contarles como estuvo mi experiencia el fin de semana pasado en el Baby Shower de una gran amiga mía y de mi familia, ya que ella es hija de una vecina nuestra de toda la vida, de hecho mi hermana fue su compañera de juegos en la infancia y también su profesora de inglés durante un tiempo, ahora nos complace ver que ella y su esposo se preparan para tener un bebé muy pronto, Dios mediante. El nombre del bebé aún no se sabe, es todo un misterio, bueno, los futuros padres aún no se animan a compartirlo con todos, lo que sí se sabe es que será un varón, y todos esperamos Dios mediante que sea un niño sano y fuerte con la bendición de Dios.
The celebration took place at an estate the family rented specifically for the occasion, and we loved it because it was full of beautifully manicured green spaces and a pool that is a real treat on hot days—though, being all dressed up and wearing makeup, I didn't feel like getting in the water, haha 😄 (and neither did my mom or sister). Still, breathing in the fresh air there was absolutely delightful; connecting with nature is always so refreshing and relaxing.
La celebración se llevó a cabo en una finca que alquiló la familia especialmente para la ocasión, y nos gustó muchísimo porque estaba llena de areas verdes (muy bien cuidadas) y una piscina que es todo un deleite para los días calurosos, pero estando arreglada y maquillada no me apetecía entrar al agua jeje 😄 y tampoco a mi mamá y a mi hermana, pero respirar el aire fresco de allí era absolutamente encantador, el contacto con la naturaleza siempre renueva y relaja.
Our dear friend was overjoyed to welcome us, just as we were happy to see her and to know that soon—very soon—she will be a mother (God willing). It’s incredible how time flies; yesterday we were just girls, and today it amazes me to see her like this—pregnant. 🤗
Nuestra querida amiga estaba muy feliz de recibirnos, así como nosotros estábamos felices de verla y de saber que pronto, muy pronto será madre (Dios mediante) Es increíble como pasa el tiempo, ayer éramos niñas y hoy en día me sorprende verla así, embarazada 🤗
The party featured a fantastic entertainer who did a great job running the games and activities; I’m happy to say I came very close to winning two of them 😄—and I mean *really* close. For instance, in the first game, we had to pass a handkerchief from person to person, holding it with just two fingers and moving our grip lower and lower until it buckled; whoever was holding it when it buckled had to drop out. In the end, it came down to just two of us, but I ultimately lost the game 😄.
La fiesta contó con los servicios de un animador muy bueno que supo gestionar muy bien los juegos y dinámicas y me complace decir que estuve a punto de ganar en dos de ellas 😄 pero en serio... muy a punto de ganar, por ejemplo en la primera dinámica teníamos que pasarnos un pañuelo de mano en mano entre los invitados, sosteniéndolo solo con dos dedos y cada vez más abajo hasta que este se doblara, cuando este se doblaba la persona que lo tuviera en ese momento debía abandonar el juego, al final solo quedamos dos participantes pero terminé perdiendo el juego 😄
The other game is very common at baby showers: it involves cutting a piece of string, twine, or ribbon by estimating the circumference of the mom-to-be's belly. Having played this game at another baby shower before—and having missed the mark back then—I calculated that the exact measurement was just over a meter. So, I cut my piece of twine based on that hunch, and I actually came incredibly close to the exact measurement; in fact, I was among those who got the closest, though another guest won in the end. Oh man! I was really close! 😝
El otro juego es muy común en los Baby Shower, se trata de cortar un trozo de cuerda, pabilo o cinta calculando la circunferencia del vientre de la futura madre, y debido a que yo había participado uno de estos juegos en otro baby shower, en ese entonces después de fallar calculé que la medida exacta era un metro y algunas décimas, así que yo corté mi trozo de pabilo siguiendo eta intuición y la verdad es que llegué super cerca a la medida exacta, de hecho quedé entre los que se acercaron más pero al final ganó otro de los invitados. ¡Ahhhh! estuve realmente cerca 😝
In the end, the proud parents-to-be posed together for photos with the guests and then set about opening their gifts; there were many lovely presents, but most were clothes, so I was glad I had given them something different—a bottle brush and a baby nail care set.
Al final los futuros padres, muy orgullosos posaron juntos para las fotos de los invitados y después se dispusieron a abrir los regalos, hubo muchos regalos hermosos pero casi todos ropa, así que me alegré de haberle regalado algo diferente, un limpiador de mamilas para biberones y también un set de limpieza para las uñas del bebé.
