Rembrandt is one of the principal artists of the Dutch Golden Era... well, he might be THE artist that most people would associate with that particular age in Dutch and world history. His name is well known around the world, even if people might struggle to associate that name with a particular painting. One of the most famous paintings by Rembrandt is the Nachtwacht (painted 1642) which depicts a Dutch militia as it's subject.
The painting is the crown jewel of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and it is displayed prominently at the entrance hall of the art museum (or at least it was when I last visited!). What is striking about the painting is it's sheer size... at nearly 15 square metres in area, it is more than enough to cover a decent sized wall!... and I've once had the pleasure of playing a concert with the painting as the backdrop!
There is a series of Dutch silver rounds that celebrate the artists and famous paintings of the Dutch Golden Age. The Nachtwacht of Rembrandt is reprised in this little round which pays homage to the famous painting. Weighing in at just under 10 grams and comprised of 80% silver, it is significantly smaller than the real painting... and as such, can only capture the main focus of the painting.
... but the level of detail with which it does replicate the main two (three) subjects of the militia is quite astounding.
... of course, on the flip side of the round, is the Rembrandt himself... although, the image reminds me more of a cutout for a postage stamp! I do love the intersection of silver and the artistic world of the Dutch Golden Age... I have a number of these rounds in my collection, and although they aren't the purest of pure silver, they are lovely pieces to look at! In fact, during my collecting... I got a bit carried away, and managed to get multiple copies of the same rounds!
Perhaps in a later post, I will feature some of the lesser known artists and paintings!

Keep Your Crypto Holdings Safe with Ledger
Ledger is one of the leading providers of hardware wallets with the Ledger Nano S being one of the most popular choices for protecting your crypto currencies. Leaving your holdings on a crypto exchange means that you don’t actually own the digital assets, instead you are given an IOU that may or may not be honoured when you call upon it. Software and web based wallets have their weakness in your own personal online security, with your private keys being vulnerable in transit or whilst being stored upon your computer. Paper wallets are incredibly tiresome and still vulnerable to digital attacks (in transit) and are also open to real world attacks (such as theft/photography).
Supporting a wide range of top tokens and coins, the Ledger hardware wallet ensures that your private keys are secure and not exposed to either real world or digital actors. Finding a happy medium of security and usability, Ledger is the leading company in providing safe and secure access to your tokenised future!
