What are your plans for the holiday?
If you have been keeping up with my blog you would know that I am very far away from home. When I was coming over here 6months ago I kept telling myself, don’t worry IB, it would be Christmas soon and you would run home to your mom and dad. Growing up I spent all my Christmas with my family except my last Christmas when I traveled with a friend to a whole different and new place to experience Christmas. It was so much fun but I spent a lot compared to when I will be spending Christmas with my family.
I haven’t finalized my plans for Christmas though because I am still deciding due to the cost of transportation which is so expensive, I would have to pay for my going and returning to this place and that would cost a lot. If I choose to stay I could save that and use it for something else. Over this part of my country which is up north the Christmas period is not as bubbling as over there in the South. I am sure by now there would be lots of Christmas trees and lights around. Well, it’s not so here.
While writing this, I think I would ignore the cost of traveling home and just travel home for the festive season. I have been homesick and I am sure I will feel better when I see my mom and dad. The only thing that would make me spend a lot would be my transport back home. While at home I won’t be spending much as I will be taken care of by my parents. I will be super excited to see my siblings. Hopefully I get surprise my younger brother during his sign out from High school.

I have several engagements though. I would be meeting up with my best friend, the last time I saw her was in 2020, and we only communicate via video calls or voice calls. Good thing she would be coming back during the festive season so we have a lot of catching up to do.
If there is one thing I love my city for is that the Festive Period is never boring. I would be attending a series of concerts that would be held there, lots of big stars would be coming to perform and honestly, I can’t wait. I will think of my transport back to my state of service after the enjoyment.
Most of my friends have asked if I would be coming back home so we could hang out, see a movie, or something. I would try not to spend much as I have my transport to think about so spending for the festive period would be limited and I will be asking my dad for financial help to enable me to enjoy the moment.
At this point, I can not wait to go home and enjoy every bit of Christmas. I can’t smell it over here but I am sure immediately I get home I will smell everything Christmas.
