I love being on vacation and travelling to other countries. There's something beautiful about standing at an open window in the early morning looking upon a vista I've not seen before, inhaling air scented differently than at home and knowing that new adventures await on the other side of that window.
My guy and I have spent so many amazing moments in such places wandering about discovering new things and deepening our own relationship through shared experiences; those steps we take may seem like simple actions we make to get from one place to another but I think of them all as steps into and through the journey of my life.

We always try to find accommodation with a view: The ocean, lakes, rivers, mountains, forests and even city skylines, sometimes it's camping with an amazing view just outside the tent flap.
One of our special moments is waking each morning and sharing coffee at the window, or on the balcony if there is one, looking outward to the new day and the brand new adventure it may hold. We've looked out of many such windows and seen many vistas and each one holds its own memory and significance, even years later.
We didn't always have amazing views but the moment itself brought meaning; a feeling of gratitude for the opportunity to be there in that moment with someone we love, the prospect of an adventure to follow and the memories we'd create. Standing at the window each morning, sometimes to watch the sunrise, always seems such an important moment.
Life doesn't always hold what we wish it to and neither does it deliver perfection; what it does have in store for us is the chance to create memories and the ability to shape our lives into something we would like it to resemble. Sometimes we manage it and other times we do not but in any given moment all we can do is be in it completely and value what we have in the present.
I like to remember those windows I've looked out of and on each day of my life imagine myself looking out a window into the day ahead; it's a nice way to remind myself to get the most from it, to truly live it, and to find happiness or take lessons from it so that the next is even better.
