I've been a little ill of late; nothing serious, although it's kept me inside mostly and the last week hasn't been very inspirational. I love being in my home though and have found enough to keep me occupied so definitely haven't been bored.

Sadly, I've missed out on some really lovely weather, blue skies and moderate temperatures which I'd usually make good use of by getting out and about, even if that was just to and from work during the week. I love the feel of sunshine on my body and the way it radiates inwards. Yes, it makes me sleepy sometimes but that's ok too right?

Today has been the first day out of my home and I'd been looking forward to it, all those blue skies and lovely sunshine you know...but there's none today. Grey is the order of the day and it'll rain later as well. I don't mind the rain of course, it's part of life and nature needs a shower now and then, although I'd have liked to see some blue skies today, to have some sun on my body.

I went to work and won't return home until after dark; thanks winter. On the way I stopped at a little roadside flower booth and collected some blooms to take to work and brighten up the space which I do each week. Bringing a little colour in helps to chase away the grey and whilst I cannot chase it away and enjoy blue skies outside, in my workplace I can add a little vibrancy inside which makes it nicer.

It's funny to me that black and white photography always seems to have such appeal, often more than colour photography - something about the drama such tones lend the image. Yet life itself is lived in colour and we move from one such splash of colour to the next, seeking more of the same; the good times and vibrancy of life. But balance is required also.

I think that's why I love nature so much, the way it represents itself so well, so balanced. A splash of colour here, some over there, interspersed by greens and browns, blue skies and, or course grey rainy days; all just a part of the whole.

My life hasn't been all blue skies, sunshine and flowers, however I've had my share; the ups and downs of life have been as prevalent for me as they are with most of us. I think it's finding the balance between the two that really matters and, of course, revelling in the highs when they come and dealing with the lows.
