This was supposed to be for Mermay XD but it's already June and I think I should have skipped May entirely but I already stated the base paint of like half of the prompt words so I think I'll dedicate June to just catching up because I feel bad for all the paper I already used up and a month or two of skipped prompt wouldn't hurt, right?
IDK I'm just seeing if I can catch up this month and ifnot, I give I up and stick to the other ones I have because my brain is kind of getting tired o spring and colors and would like to do something darker soon. But oh well, I'm gonna have to tugh this one out an go as far as I can this month.Hopefully I can at least finish my April promptbecause I really liked that one. My July prompt.... ehh, we'll see. Maybe I'll just ue it to catch up to May because my real highlight is really from August to October when it's supposed to be dead season for me.
But yes, for my goldfish mermaid! I wasn't actually feeling this one. Mostly because I couldn't draw hands and because I had a hard time drawing a goldfish mermaid XD
Duration: 2 hours
Materials: Water color, pencil color, white acrylic marker
I'm not that happy about this oneand I imagine I won't be so thrilled with the outcome for the rest of my Mermay prompts, but I'll just have to keep practicing and practicing, specially if I aim to restore my skills to their former glory.
Forthe base and the sketch... I had proportion problems and I think I really have to review my anatomy because I really forgot ho proportions work so I really wasn't confident with this one because for a body to look good, it takes a lot more than color theory to get there. So maybe this would bemy July activity? Anatomy study?
For the shadow layers, I used a green base followed by a brown and red-orange overtone and that kind of just became the basis for the orange build up to the highlights
Overall, I kind of struggled with this one because I couldn't see much of the definition I was going for s like, at the end of i, I ended up using a dark blue pencil to give it more of the shading and definition I was going for. I'm trying to avoid using black on all my drawings lately because I would have to keep adjusting and adjusting the contrast and what I'm learning to buildhere is more color cohesion and harmony which is something instantly lost when en up using black.
But yes, that' my ramble.
After that,I did my highlights and called it a day because OMG I have developed a hate for anatomy in the times that I haven't done anatomy.
So yes, I now have a new assignment and something to focus on for the next month. That really helped sort out my thoughts.
Thank you for listening to me ramble XD I appreciate it guys! Until next time!
