Good morning to all my wonderful friends here.. How are all of you?
I have been busy taking care of my goldfish. Been aquiring a lot of goldfish for my tank. The friendliest and easiest type of fish to rear in an aquarium.
It's a wonderful Monday again.
Some Orandas in my tank. One thing quite unique about goldfish that I recently found out in the past few months is that they somehow is black when they are young and slowly change colour. Having baby goldfish in some ways feels like you're opening a blind box with no idea what colour you're going to end up with.
It took me close to a decade to understand the science behind aquarium water.
This is my 4-foot aquarium. The new brighter light has just arrived. Later, I will show you a photo of what this tank looks like. This tank has been at my house for the last decade. I used to have those predatory fish, but they were not easy to keep. Most of them lasted one to two years. I had a flowerhorn that passed away after almost a decade. After that, I decided to change some of the fish type. But after a while, I may get a tank to rear flowerhorns again.
One of the things that I usually do is to change the water from time to time, at around 20 to 30 % per water change. I used to wait a couple of weeks and change a lot of the water, but then it usually takes a couple of hours. With this new method, the water stays clear while the water parameters are still what the fish are used to without increasing too much chlorine.
Recently, I ordered this Panda Oranda goldfish. It is quite cute, isn't it? I never knew that Goldfish came in so many different colors until I started being more obsessed with goldfish.
After I installed the new lighting system, which is around 110 cm. It makes it brighter and better for me to look at the fish. The LED light is energy-saving, and I usually only turn it on in the evening.
A majority of the fish here are Goldfish. I have a water hycintch floating on the water.
I also got myself a sponge filter a month ago to better filter the water, as it keeps a lot of the good microbes. Then there is a water pump filter to pump water up into the filtration system to remove any waste and that has two different layers.
So, after I started getting better at this, the water has constantly been clear and requires very little maintenance.
Thank you very much for reading my post.
Have a wonderful day ahead.
