It's me again, writing this on a rainy afternoon on August 29, 2023. It is a few days since September starts and a few days until my birthday. I'll be 26 soon and I feel like I've not really achieved anything in life yet aside from having a bit of a stable job that allows me freedom to do my hobbies. But aside from that entirely... I hhave no idea what to show for as a 26 year old. I'm trying to change my financial standing with the remaining months of the year, but with everything breaking plus a few extra stuff to save up for... This might prove to be a challenge.
Anyways, I'm back with drawing and I definitely had to express this stagnancy of sorts.
So for most of this long weekend I've had. I filled myself with art and literature. And what came out of my creative excursion was this
Materials used: Black and white pen, chalk
Duration: 3 hours
Someone clearly in distraught, lost in thought and i don't have enough words to describe him but he embodies hw my body wants to react to being constantly hung over by my thoughts. It's a little dark again, I know XD I don't think I can ever escape this art style but who knows, maybe in this upcoming Sketchtember and inktober we'll see improvements in my art because art honestly feels like the only thing I have control of now.
Onto my process!
So for this one, I just started with a completely solid fill to the dark parts of the drawing.
Then I worked on the face details when I was satisfied with my background. I've been planning to do that lately, allocate a month to just completely focus on landscapes and backgrounds, but I don't think that time is now.
If you notice the smoothened out texture on the last image, that usually when I apply the chalk layer. It sort of works as a blending and blurring agent for me. I like my drawings coming out either really textured and detailed or really smooth because those are often speed sketches. Anyways, this is one of those speed sketch turned semi-detailed that I loved the outcome of. I hope you guys enjoyed seeing the progression shots as much as I do. Hopefully soon, I can include small gifs and clips of my progress because I need to get a new phone XD
old one broke and has been scaring the shit out of me with the glitching. So it definitely needs replacing soon.
So that's all from me for today, I apologize if the text on this got too personal and pessimistic, but that's just me
Thank you for reading until here! See you next time!
And I will be opening up commissions for traditional art so if anyone's interested, just hit me up in the comments w
