The matter I'm about to discuss is a very delicate issue and is one that
must be looked at with care.
A couple days ago I received quite sad news that the moderator of a crypto whatsapp group I was on, died. He was still very young, in perfect health, and was having the time of his life as far as I knew, so what could be the cause I wondered.
I was really sad, but when it was discovered that he committed suicide it made me sit down and think. Why? Why would he end it? For a while I just sat down and was cooking up various reasons in my head. But there was nothing I could think of that actually warranted that actually warranted the loss of his life.
One thing that perplexed me was the fact that the night before, he posted something strange on his whatsapp status. If I had seen it that day, there's the tendency I might have checked in on him. Then again he may have switched off his phone.
I have chosen not to share the image, but I'll share the caption.It said
If there is something after death, it's good. If not, it's fine too. I have lived my life and did the best that I could.
Those words saddened me, why would you ever think it's better to end it?
At that moment I just sat down and began reading various articles about why a person would want to end their own life.
They all said the same thing. Depression, drug abuse, financial problems, anxiety, loneliness, trauma.
I went further to check ways to prevent one from committing suicide. Every single article basically said the same thing. Talk, communicate, reach out, they should talk to a therapist, talk, talk, talk.
I immediately started calling and checking up on everyone. It may not seem like much, but I felt a certain relief as I spoke with each of them, getting to know what they were up to, and just letting them know that I cared.
They'll be times when it will seem like your world is imploding, or there's no way to get out, or it may seem like you're alone, I want you to know that it's not worth taking your life. Nothing is worth your life.
