Filipinos are certified rice eaters, we have a a lot of rice fields here but still we buy rice from other countries. That is when someone goes out from the house, rice is always a package. The idea of weaving the coconut leaves as the rice bin ready for cooking might be conceptualized to make it more convenient in carrying and throwing empty leaves rather than having bulky lunch box to carry back home.

This was taken when we ate Pork Barbecue with the hanging rice sold.
