Welcome to another Battle Mage Challenge, this time featuring the new “FabFour” rule, which only allows you to position four Monster, regardless of the Mana available.
As said before, this is one of the new rules the game has included in the gameplay and it only allows you to create a team with four Monsters… the Summoner is another story.
So, considering teams with fewer Monsters mean less damage being inflicted, in my opinion, cards that heal, themselves or others, are great for this rule. You may also feel more comfortable using a card with Taunt, to control where damage goes or Monsters with very high Health.
From the offensive point of view, if less damage is going to be dealt, you may want to use the strongest Monsters you have, as well as those who have a mixed attack or a Double Strike ability.
I don’t have much else to say regarding this rule… is just like any other, but with less attackers… you choose whether you position four attackers, or if you make a space for a couple of healers. In my case I like balance, so I’d probably use a Monster with Double Strike as a tank, a Monster with Taunt in the back for damage control and, if possible, two healers, one with Triage and another with Tank Heal.
This battle is one of those ridiculous situations that are now happening in the Modern Format, where you’re in the low Silver League, with your Silver cards, and some guy shows up with full leveled cards… at 1300 Rating points… what’s up with that? One thing is a Challenge against a player, who has a couple of strong Legendaries, and another thing is a player with Diamond level cards against a player with Silver cards… hope something is done about that.
Anyways, plenty of Mana to use… and since the Earth Splinter was available to use, I decided to make use of one of the defensive tactics explained before.
So, I lost… I don’t believe my lineup was bad, but the power generated by my opponent’s Monsters was too much, and more important the Speed of those attacks was quite fast, since he used two cards with Swiftness and I wasn’t able to heal once. And of course, the level of those cards should be taken into account.
This time I have the upper hand, since my Monsters are one tier higher than my opponent’s… he used three Legendaries though, so it was a challenge anyways. This battle was done in a Brawl with a Silver cap, where only Chaos and Rebellion sets were allowed.
We were not allowed to use Melee Monsters, so I chose to use the Earth Splinter’s Magic Monsters.
In this case, the battle was a success, since the strategy worked fine. I do have to say though, that both the Chaos Dragon and Iziar, are two problematic Monsters, since the first one bypasses Taunt and the second one, not only has Taunt, but also Void, which in addition to all of her Health, makes her a though barrier.
This is it guys, thank you for reading!
