Listen to Sufjan Stevens’ New Song “A Running Start”
Sufjan Stevens has unveiled a new song, "A Running Start," marking the third and final preview of his upcoming album, Javelin, set for release on October 6. This latest track joins previously released previews, "So You Are Tired" and "Will Anybody Ever Love Me?"
Javelin signifies Stevens' return to solo songwriting, and the album features collaborations with friends, including Bryce Dessner from the National on the track "Shit Talk." Additionally, the album comes with a 48-page book containing Stevens' collages and related essays. Stevens himself designed the album's cover art.
In a recent update on Tumblr, Stevens shared that he has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, an autoimmune condition affecting the nervous system. While he assured fans that he will recover, the process requires time, patience, and hard work. Unfortunately, his condition has prevented him from participating in promotional press for Javelin, and he has yet to announce any tour plans in support of the album.
Despite these challenges, Sufjan Stevens continues to share his art and music, including this latest offering, "A Running Start," which provides a glimpse into what promises to be a remarkable album.
