Kelela Unveils First Track from Upcoming Remix Album
Kelela is back with a new remix album, a reimagining of her second album, "Raven," which dropped in February. Leading the way is Karen Nyame KG's remix of the track "Contact." To provide a visual companion to the music, a video short directed by Yasser Abubeker is also available. As for Rave:N, there isn't an official release date yet, but Kelela shared some insight into how remixes play a part in her songwriting. She mentioned that she sometimes creates original tracks with the remix in mind and how this process adds an extra layer to her music. In the case of "Contact," she described it as reaching "supreme levels of sexy," making her want to seduce someone on the dance floor.
Kelela announced her follow-up to 2017's "Take Me Apart" late last year and performed "Enough for Love" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon around the time of "Raven's" release. In February, she also paid tribute to Sade by covering "Like a Tattoo" as part of an Amazon Music series celebrating Black History Month.
