Get ready to tune in to an exclusive musical revelation!
Hey there, music fans! We've got some exciting news for you. The legendary Joni Mitchell has just dropped a never-before-heard song titled "Like Veils Said Lorraine." This hidden gem was actually recorded way back in the early '70s, between late 1971 and early 1972, at A&M Studios in Hollywood. But here's the kicker – it's been tucked away all this time and is finally seeing the light of day.
Now, you might be wondering why it took so long for this fantastic tune to surface. Well, it's all part of Joni Mitchell's grand plan. This unheard track is set to be part of her upcoming box set, titled Joni Mitchell Archives, Vol. 3: The Asylum Years (1972-1975), which is slated for release on October 6th.
And here's a little backstory for you. The song "Like Veils Said Lorraine" is based on a real-life conversation Joni had with a woman named Lorraine, who happened to be a real estate agent. According to Joni, Lorraine had that classic Hollywood glamour, with a touch of Marlene Dietrich's elegance. She'd even lived in China with her husband, giving her a worldly flair. The song captures the essence of their conversation, with Joni's signature piano-based style.
So, mark your calendars for October 6th, because Joni Mitchell's Archives Vol. 3 promises to be a treasure trove of musical goodness. This collection covers just four years of her illustrious career but includes some of her most iconic work, including albums like "For the Roses," "Court and Spark," and "The Hissing of Summer Lawns." You can expect early demos, alternate versions, and even a full 1972 Carnegie Hall performance.
Stay tuned, music lovers, because Joni Mitchell is about to take us on a journey through her incredible musical evolution.
