We are surrounded by messages that come and go, some good, others not so good, signs, writings, words, messages… But there are certain messages that never fail, messages that are true, even if we do not fully understand them at first. Messages that arrive when we least expect them, and only as time passes will we realise what they are about and come to understand them.
There are messages that come from different parts of the world and that we receive every day; in the past, messages used to arrive by letter and sometimes took months to reach us, because they travelled by ship. Sometimes we wait for a ship to bring us news from someone, and at other times every message from that person we cherish is like a balm or an oasis in the midst of a storm. But the most accurate messages are those from our own hearts. It will never be wrong, and it will even tell us whether the messages we receive are good for us. Sometimes we gaze out at the seashore, waiting for that message… that one in particular.

Process in pictures - Proceso en imágenes
Design process
The design was created entirely in Photoshop CS6 without the use of AI, using 12 royalty free images spread across 18 layers.
To create the background, I used a section of an image that resembles old paper, the lighter part, and a watercolour image depicting the sea and sky; for the latter, I applied the ‘Hard Light’ blending mode. I then placed the watercolour splashes, both the pink and the light blue ones, on top of this, each on two layers, applying the ‘Spot Light’ blending mode to some of them. I positioned the text over these, erasing part of the background using the ‘Darken’ blending mode, and then arranged the images of the pots and the tree using the ‘Darker Colour’ blending mode.
Using the ‘Darken’ blending mode, I added three layers of ginkgo biloba leaves in different positions and scales, to which I applied the ‘Added Edges’ filter. I then worked on the image of the couple in love, which originally had a black background. I inverted the colours via ‘Image > Adjustments > Invert’, then applied the ‘Darker Colour’ blending mode and the aforementioned filter.
I placed the heart image in a corner using the ‘Darken’ blending mode, and then worked on the image of the woman’s face across two layers, erasing part of the background. The blending modes used were ‘Darken’ and ‘Spot Light’, and I also applied the same filter as before. On top of the face, I placed one of the watercolour splashes, the pink one, using the ‘Darker Colour’ blending mode.
I send you all a big hello and see you next time.
Thanks for watching and reading this far.
