You’ll be a fool to look down on the old men in your street,
To mock their worn out clothes or the cracks in their feet.
For the man you see today, bent beneath the weight of age,
May have once walked with confidence, with dreams on every page.

You’ll be a fool to think a man wakes up one morning and decides
That life is no longer worth living, with no pain he keeps inside.
You’ll be a fool to think that suffering has only one face,

You’ll be a fool to say, "That could never happen to me,"
As though tomorrow has been promised
Life has a way of humbling us
Sometimes those who stand the tallest have the farthest way to fall.
Those old clothes you see on the homeless man were once brand new
Someone once treasured them, just as someone once treasured you.

Those old men you look down upon once had dreams they wanted to chase,
They had ambitions and a future they embraced..
That woman begging by the roadside was once somebody's little girl,
She may have had a beautiful home and dreams of conquering the world.

That man sleeping on the pavement may have once provided for his own,
But life can change in ways that leave even the strongest all alone.
So before you judge another, pause and think about their plight,
You do not know the battles they have fought beyond your sight.

Not everyone who falls is lazy and not everyone who struggles failed,
Until you have walked in another person's shoes,
Be careful with the judgments that you so quickly choose.
For the same hands that point at others may one day need a hand

Be grateful for your blessings, but never let them make you proud,
Pray for grace, remain humble and be gentle with mankind.
Remember, we are all just human, trying to make it through somehow.
Treat people with empathy and be kind to one another
And always wish for others what you wish for yourself.
