Today I want to take some time to talk about a topic that has deeply affected me: mental health đ«
Every year comes wrapped with its own lessons. Iâve lived through many difficult things that made me feel like âI canât go on anymore.â But in 2024, I felt completely drownedâI thought nothing made sense, that I was exaggerating, that I had been through tougher things and therefore had no right to feel the way I did. All I felt was guilt. This week marks one year since that episode. I remember the entire timeline: the triggers, the events, the people who stayed by my side and supported me, and above all, the overwhelming emptiness.
I remember the first days of therapy, the conversations with my psychiatrist, the endless days of chest pain, and the feeling that it would never end⊠Someone once told me âdepression canât be curedââand I froze. I thought to myself that I never wanted to feel that way again, that I wouldnât be able to handle another âincurableâ diagnosis đ„ș. But here I am, one year later.
What helped me? One of the tools that helped me the most back then was limiting my use of social media. I donât know if itâs the same for you, but on my phone I can âsuspend appsâ for a certain amount of time. That feature helped me so muchâit silenced notifications and gave me a sense of calm whenever I picked up my phone.
At the time, I was very active and involved in many projects in web3, in Hive. But the emotional pain I was carrying was so heavy that it overshadowed everything else. A year later, Iâm still in recovery. There are good days and bad days. And when the bad ones come, I go back to my safe space đâI suspend social media again and instead focus on reading, listening to podcasts, or cooking.
Social media can drag you back to places you fought so hard to leave. I remember that when I limited my use, it wasnât because people knew what I was going through and kept writing to meâin fact, very few people knew. I did it because every time I opened an app to âdistract myself,â the algorithm kept showing me sensitive content about self-harm and other painful topics. It was torture. I also didnât feel comfortable recording videos or creating content the way I used toâand I think thatâs still why it feels difficult for me to film even now.
The truth is, when your life feels meaningless and your emotions are unstable, watching how others live theirs doesnât help. Thatâs why itâs important to take a step back. I still do it. Maybe someday, when all this truly passes, Iâll feel more comfortable again. Until then, I hope this advice is usefulâand that you can see social media as a window you can open and close at your will, not the other way around.
¿Qué me ayudó?
