Yesterday, our one hour class has been postponed so my friends and I decided to take a short picnic because we had nothing to do at the hostel. We went to Sungai Tekala (waterfalls), that's the nearest and cleanest river from our college. We don't have so many choices here because of the time and cost. Another nearest river is Sungai Gabai, we have been there once before, but all we got is disappointment that I don't even want to mention here.

So it is Tuesday, not many visitors there compared to the weekend so we got our privacy, the weather is good, and yes, it's such a peaceful and perfect timing.
Located around 19km from our college and 50km from the city of Kuala Lumpur, it is one of the beautiful recreational area to visit and a great location for a picnic.

That's actually not our first time to be there. We visited there for the first time last year to complete our task for our Project Planning and Evaluation course, which is what I would love to write about.
We went there last time to evaluate the communities and visitors perception on the transmission line project that is planned to be constructed around that area.
We know that transmission lines are very important to transfer and provide electricity towards communities of another areas.
So we asked the visitors whether they're agree or not for the project to be implemented. Most of the answers are 'NO'. And I'm glad to know the reasons. They don't want to destroy the beautiful landscape there. They're worried about those habitats, flora and fauna. Most of the answers are environmentally conscious.
But then, we asked another extra question; "If there's no electricity in your living area, and this project is aim to provide the electricity to your location, should it be implemented?"
Then the answers changed from a NO to a YES! Not all, but mostly. They said that's a basic needs that they should get. And we asked, "what about environment?". Silence... Now they're getting confused.
I would be confused as well if it was me at that situation. I claimed to be environment lover, I would not be agree if the project couldn't protect the environment, even if it does, still it would change the landscape. But of course because I'm not at the situation where I'm living in the dark with my family, with the hot weather out there (yes it's Malaysia not Europe) no air-conditioning, not even a fan. Even a day of electricity blackout is enough to make us a whole family live in a mess.
What if it would be you in this situation? Which one would be your choice? Nature? or your basic need?
Can we get benefit over something without harming the nature?
