Everything that is fried food will taste very different compared to food that is baked, boiled or grilled. Maybe because the three are fried, there will be a crunchy taste that increases when covered with fat or oil, so something that is processed in a deep fry will be appetizing.

I don't think I can refuse fried snacks, especially those that are given additional flavors such as some savory spices, making myself unable to hold myself back. There is one unique snack here, maybe you will feel very strange with the name. Actually the name of this snack is 'Gabus Cake' because it tastes like eating cork, do you know what cork is like? Like a cloud texture. So, this snack has a very light weight and also tastes very tasty because it is made from sago flour, foam from eggs and cheese. These three ingredients are very important in making gabus cake.

However, this snack is also known as 'kue daki', similar to the daki that you usually make while scrub, so this name is very close to its distinctive shape, but if you call it like that, maybe many people won't like this snack. that's why I prefer to call it 'Gabus Snack or Cork Snack'.

This cake was taught by my mother-in-law, this recipe is very secret, but I will share it with you. My mother-in-law is really good at making gabus snack, this is a snack she usually sells just before Eid. All Indonesians love gabus cake, I think it would be better for me to call it gabus snack here.

With only 5 simple ingredients, this snack will be as good as eating popcorn while watching Netflix series. Perfect to enjoy with a bottle of coke or soda. Cork snack can be an option to enjoy free time, you can also teach it to your child as sensory play.

So, here I use 'orang desa' sago flour, because this flour has a nice fragrance, has a pandan aroma that will whet your appetite.

  • Prepare 5 fresh and large eggs, then put them in the mixer bowl. The most important thing is to make the eggs fluffy, so it can be mixed for 20 minutes. Until the dough is stiff. Then mix it into a bowl that has been filled with flour.

  • Gabus snack is ready to be served and put in a jar for storage. Notes; Save the cork snack immediately if it's cold after frying, so the cork snack doesn't get soggy.
