Usually I enjoy it above the dam of situ gintung Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten.
This time enjoying tofu gejrot on the roadside of the capital city of Jakarta, at one of Pertamina's gas stations Jl. TB Simatupang South Jakarta.
Just info, tahu gejrot is a traditional Indonesian snack typical of Cirebon, West Java. Tofu is served with a rather small cut doused with sweet tamarind sauce with chili spices, garlic, onion, brown sugar, some also add a little salt.
In my taste, the seasoning doesn't use garlic and the standard spicy level. The spices are crushed and then added with gravy. After that, it is immediately poured into the tofu that has been cut into small pieces.
How much it costs? Of course if on the streets it is cheaper and can bargain. I always say, Rp. 5,000.
Oh yeah, why is it called know gejrot? Because when the sauce is poured, there is the sound of the gejrot jrot ...
In Jakarta, you know it's easy to find anywhere.
I always spend the sauce, the pleasure is unimaginable. But carefully sipping the sauce, it must be slow so as not to choke in the throat.
