[ENG/ESP] A major challenge. Crochet Motorcycle./Un reto mayor. Motocicleta a Crochet.

At some point I mentioned to you that a client and friend wanted me to make him a crochet motorcycle, I think he is my best client so far, as he has bought several of my creations. He has a company where he sells spare parts for motorcycles and for December he wants to give his best customers a small motorcycle keychain, so he asked me for a sample. Believe me, I was very excited with this request. I didn't think about it too much, but I knew it wouldn't be something simple because of the amount of pieces and also because of the structure of this type of work.

En algun momento llegué a mencionarles que un cliente y amigo deseaba que le hiciera una motocicleta a crochet, creo que hasta ahora es mi mejor cliente, pues ha comprado varias de mis creaciones. El tiene una empresa donde vende repuestos para motos y para la fecha de diciembre desea regalar a sus mejores clientes una pequeña moto llavero, por lo cual me pidió una muestra. Créanme, me emocioné mucho con este pedido. No lo pensé demasiado, pero si sabía que no sería algo sencillo por la cantidad de piezas y además por la estructura de este tipo de trabajos.

When I started working on the sample I realized how difficult it really is. I could not manage to weave the whole frame. That is to say, some woven cylinders to introduce in them a wire and thus give form to the structure of the motorcycle.

Cuando empecé a trabajar en la muestra me di cuenta del grado de dificultad que realmente tiene. No conseguía hacer el tejido de toda la armazón. Es decir, unos cilindros tejidos para introducir en ellos un alambre y así dar forma a la estructura de la motos.

Not only that, the light came to me with this fantastic technique, because I also used it for the rest of the structure of the bike, only that after two turns with single yarn, I found that even the tubes looked too thin, then I wove several chains with the same black yarn and continued lining in spiral, so I got the thickness I wanted.

No solo eso, la luz llegó a mi con esta fantástica técnica, pues también la utilicé para el resto de la estructura de la moto, solo que después de dos vueltas con hilo sencillo, me pareció que aún los tubos se veían muy delgados, entonces tejí varias cadenas con el mismo hilo negro y seguí forrando en espiral, así conseguí el grosor que deseaba.

Almost the whole bike was assembled using liquid silicone, as it was a bit complicated to stitch as it is normally done. I'm not entirely happy with this, as it can mess up the work with the glue, but it helped me get around the situation. On the other hand, I feel much more confident when stitching since this way our creations don't come apart.

Casi toda la moto la arme haciendo uso de silicón líquido, ya que era un poco complicado dar puntadas como normalmente se hace. Esto no me complace del todo, ya que puede ensuciarse el trabajo con el pegamento, pero me ayudó a solventar la situación. Por otro lado, me siento mucho más segura al coser ya que de esta manera no se desarman nuestras creaciones.

I put some details with handlebar grips, front and rear light bulbs that made this little bike look a little more attractive. My client wanted it all black, but I managed to persuade him to add a touch of color to contrast the shapes, he chose red and it was perfect for me.

Coloqué algunos detalles con puños en el manubrio, focos de luz delantera y trasera que hicieron que esta pequeña moto luciera un poco más atractiva. Mi cliente la quería toda negra, pero logré persuadirlo de agregar un toque de color para contrastar las formas, él eligió el color rojo y fue perfecto para mí.
