Hello friends,
When I have negative thoughts it’s hard for me to da anything, or concentrate on anything important. So in that situation whenever it’s possible I do art or doodling. With each brushstroke I get what I need, I calm down.
I know that for some people working hard physically has the same result which is switching thoughts that we’re tired of to something different. I guess it depends on one’s personality.
Here is one of the little doodles I did recently. Just a bunch of flowers. I like watching how ink spreads and slowly mixes with water. It’s very calming and satisfying.
I also enjoy drawing the leaves with a pen or marker. Adding the pattern is the best part.
I’ve never attended art therapy sessions but I think it’s probably something similar to what I do at home.
I remember how in my childhood my brother used to doodle in his math notebook. He would draw a pattern inside of squares and it looked pretty awesome. I think he was bored during the class and found a way to last till the class was done.
So doodling helps with boredom as well. When I watch a light movie to have a rest after busy day, I can play Solitaire on IPad at the same time. I don’t know why I do that. I guess if the movie is boring it’s easier to turn it off, but because I’m playing a game I don’t mind it playing in the background.
I think when I do doodling art, my emotions find their way to get out with every line I draw. It’s like meditation, although I don’t think much about anything, I concentrate on the process itself. It might look like I’m wasting my time, but I’m actually getting recharged.
