After experiencing a strange freeze during an attack by a guard dog and patrolling soldiers, I restarted the game and returned to the perimeter. Spotting an enemy chopper landing on the airstrip, I ambushed the pilot with my machete, hijacked the craft, and destroyed the anti-aircraft cannon with rockets.
Returning to the perimeter, I quickly realized that several enemy soldiers had repopulated the zone. As I opened photo mode to assess their positions, a guard dog charged from behind and lunged directly at me.
Suddenly, the game locked up completely, leaving me frozen and unable to move, attack, or even bring up the pause menu. The surrounding soldiers closed in and shot me down while I remained helpless.
After restarting at the outer gate, the controls remained completely unresponsive due to the freeze, forcing me to quit to the desktop and relaunch the game.
Upon reloading the save, the technical glitch cleared up, leaving the immediate area free of patrolling infantry. I sprinted directly toward the anti-aircraft cannon to complete my objective.
En route, I spotted two guards standing watch along the nearby shoreline outside the restricted zone. I prepared to take them out, but held my fire after hearing the heavy rotors of an enemy chopper patrolling the airspace above.
The helicopter descended toward the airstrip to drop off fresh troops. Seeing an opportunity, I sneaked over to the landing site, hoping to hijack the vehicle and turn its weapons against the anti-aircraft cannon.
I sprinted to the cockpit and executed the pilot with my machete, and took full control of the craft. Then I lifted off and immediately locked onto the anti-aircraft cannon to unleash a barrage of heavy rockets.
The ground gunner returned fire, striking my chopper, but I maintained continuous rocket fire until the anti-aircraft installation exploded, securing complete dominance over the local airspace. And the airspace got cleared at last.
