Approaching a round building, I snuck past Rattler guards and unchained a trapped runner to create a distraction. After the Rattlers killed the infected, I used my silenced machine gun to pick off the guards one by one, carefully ignoring chained Clickers before recovering from a brief slip in my cover.
Moving quietly toward the tall round building, I cleared out a lone guard along the path before pushing deeper into the compound.
At first, the large structure seemed completely abandoned, but as I rounded the side, I spotted a heavy concentration of Rattlers patrolling the perimeter.
Keeping low, I noticed they had chained up an infected runner nearby. Creeping up behind a guard standing watch near the chain, I put my gun to his head.
He warned me that I was making a big mistake, but I took him out quietly anyway, figuring if I had already made a mistake, I might as well commit to it.
Spotting a second guard patrolling close by, I decided to hold off on a direct attack and create some chaos instead. I snuck over to the chained runner, unlatched its bindings, and set it free.
The infected sprinted straight toward the Rattlers, forcing the guards to panic and open fire. The distraction didn't last as long as I had hoped, though; the Rattlers put the runner down before it could take any of them out, and the sudden noise put the entire group on high alert.
Knowing they were searching the area for whoever freed the beast, I stayed tucked behind cover.
When one of the searching guards wandered too close to my hiding spot, I dropped him quickly before he could raise the alarm.
A second guard stumbled onto his buddy's corpse and started to call out, but I reacted fast, dropping him instantly.
Moments later, another Rattler stepped into my line of sight, and I put him down with a clean headshot from my silenced machine gun.
Scanning the rest of the yard, I was shocked to see they even had Clickers chained up around the site. I decided to leave those monsters locked up, knowing they would be just as much of a threat to me as to the guards.
Just as I thought the perimeter was clear, a guard snuck up behind me and blew my cover. I immediately dove behind a new wall, waited for him to walk past my position, and pulled him into the shadows for a quiet stealth takedown.
