Hello, my friends.

Karintorf. Previously, it was an urban-type working settlement, but now it is a microdistrict of the Kirovo-Chepetsk city.
My wife and I planned to go to this locality within a year, starting in the spring of 2021. But we wanted not just to visit there, but to visit the museum of railway equipment. And this is not a simple technique, but a technique for a 750 mm railway gauge.
Therefore, the interest was expressed in getting to this neighborhood on a small train. And a week ago, my daughter and her husband came to visit us and we were going to go to this place. I especially wanted to please our son-in-law. He is very fond of railway equipment - locomotives, wagons and other special equipment. And this is a very special technique - narrow-gauge.

Go ahead! Departure from a small railway platform, practically not adapted for waiting for a train. I understand that the city authorities do not even think about making some kind of comfort for the citizens of the city. There's not even a toilet here.

We were traveling on a small train, in the head of which was a diesel locomotive model TU-7A. We rode in the last open carriage so that we could look around us.

The length of the track was only 12 kilometers, but the train goes very slowly. I measured the speed - only 15 km/h. The travel time is 40 minutes! Half of the way passed through the territory of the city. And after the train crossed the river over the bridge, the city ended.

Here is a small train on which we were traveling - a diesel locomotive, 5 passenger cars and 2 open cars. I must say that this train runs on this route several times a day. And on weekends in the summer, 3 tourist cars are added to this train. Upon arrival, the guide said that 40 people had arrived this time. and we were divided into 2 groups to make it easier to inspect the interesting things.

There is such entertainment in Russia - to burn grass. Very often, such fun can lead to fires. I myself have witnessed several such fires, even participated in their extinguishing.
These people are just idiots!

Along the railway, a lot of people move along the path on bicycles. There are also people who walk.
And even closer to Karintorf there is a highway. Cars can cross the Cheptsa River on a pontoon bridge, but in the spring it is removed due to very large water. Therefore, only the railway connection with the city remains.

The first resident we met.

The railway depot is a museum. By the way, this is an operating enterprise and many museum exhibits are actually working locomotives and aggregates.

We have arrived at the final station. There is no train station or toilet here either. And this is very bad.
In previous years, when the railway was actively used, when freight trains carrying peat and other goods ran along it, when the length of the tracks was more than 200 km, then there was a station building and a control tower.
But now there is only one train running at a distance of 12 km.

The female guide who accompanied our group said that eot is a symbol of a dying village. Once more than 3 thousand people lived in this place, and now about 2 thousand live and people go to work in the city.

And this is a monument to the TU-4 diesel locomotive.
My childhood was spent in a forest village. We also had a similar railway and the same locomotives with wagons. All this is familiar to me. It's like I've returned to my childhood for a short time! So my native forest village is also dying. There is no work there now, the railway has been completely dismantled.
And I was glad to see this TU-4. He's a beauty!

In cities, you can no longer find such a motorcycle. But in such villages, this is almost the main mode of transport for local residents. On such motorcycles, people go to the forest, go to the river, transport goods on it and do a lot of work with it. The village lives its own life!

The locomotive has already changed its place in the train and is ready to go back. We have 2 hours for the tour.

And here is the "first resident" again. Such a technique is already VIP

All... we are going to the railway depot, we are going to look at the equipment!

20220508_46.jpg
Restricted area. The passage is closed
This is an operating railway depot, so tourist groups come here only on weekends when there are no employees at the enterprise.
Tourists are allowed to do everything! You can absolutely sit in any locomotive, go to any depot room! It surprised me a lot.
I'll show you and tell you about it next time.

To be continued...
