To My Unknown Mother

This is my Mother's Day wish to my mother. I never knew my parents, because I was taken away to another zoo just days after my birth. I don't blame my parents; they didn't have a choice really. - A. Skunk Ape

To my dear mother wherever you are,
I thought you should know, you bore a real star.
They took me away when I wasn’t aware
I wouldn’t come back, and you would stay there.

I miss never knowing you or my dad,
And fun times with you that I never had.
I gained fame and fortune because of my looks,
I was too busy modeling to read many books.

You’d look far and wide to find an ape of my class,
You could search everywhere, high and low but alas,
I was the top male model thirteen years in a row,
And the one word that no one would tell me, was no.

I’ve wondered so often if you’re still with the living;
It wasn’t your fault, and I believe in forgiving.
So wherever you are, to you and all mothers I say,
My dear unknown mother, have a great Mother’s Day.
