Day 8 - Our First Cruise - At Sea - Headed back to Panama

Day 8 of our cruise was at sea. We were now returning to Colon, Panama and ending our 8 day cruise! I have to admit that I was ready to get home. It had been a fun time and we had stuffed ourselves with food, but it was good to know this was our last day.

One thing we did on this day was take some photos around the ship. We laid out in the sun in the morning. Ben went to the gym and I hung out in the Solarium for a little while - people watching and writing down what we had done on the trip.

I just love the view from the back of the ship of the wake. This was taken from the spa area.

We went by the store on the ship and noticed that they had a little Panama display of items for sale. We were so surprised that the coffee was from our town, Volcan! I guess we do grow the best coffee in all of Panama right here in our own backyard!

At 11:30, we went to an art auction. We thought it would be interesting to see what they had available and what other people were interested in. There weren't enough people for it to be an auction, so they did a sale instead. They had champagne and drawings for various items. They kept drawing our number as the winner - we won 3 of the 4 prizes! We won hair clips, a beach bag, free art prints, and the guy also gave us a bottle of champagne. Ha!

After the art auction, we headed to a tour of the stage and backstage. Being a homeschool mom, this was pretty interesting to me. The stage director and a few of the dancers talked to us about being on the ship, what's it's like, and how all of the shows go. We also got to see behind the curtain!

2:00 and it was time for lunch after the tour! The salad bar was always so fresh. After lunch, we headed to the jewelry shop where they were doing a mini-seminar about Zoltanite. It's a pretty cool jewel. They also did a drawing, but we didn't win!

The rest of the afternoon we packed our stuff and got ready for dinner. The theme was casual and Bon Voyage!

I grabbed a quick photo of our waiter, Samir! He did a great job and even brought me desserts or ice cream without me asking some evenings. He was a nice guy and I hope he does well in life!

We enjoyed our last dinner on the ship. It seemed like this day was full of fun and went by quickly!

The last event for the evening was a flag ceremony. Each crew member had the flag from their country. Some of the countries had so many people and some had few - like the US only had 9 (the singers and dancers). Sometimes they would play a little song and the crew members from that country would dance. It was fun to see and yell for Panama and the US!

Our last breakfast on the ship was a tasty one. We had one last time to enjoy everything and a little bit of calm before the storm of driving home! Our driver was already at the port and it was a Sunday morning.

We were looking forward to getting home to our kids, so we checked ourselves out, headed to the car, and stopped for a quick photo by the port sign!

All in all, it was a great vacation and cruise. I'm so glad that we were able to go and have a fun time. I made a Shutterfly book of the time and love looking through the photos. I will forever cherish the memories of our first cruise!
