I am after a few days here.

As you know, I am not as young as most of you are.

It is not easy for me to learn new things, and there is a lot of them here.

More than that, I have to remember everything, I need more memory.

And so, I started to look for a way or a shortcut.

Of course, it doesn't work as with electronic devices and memory cards.

What is Memory?

Memory is the place in the brain where all information is located.

The brain not only stores, but also retrieves on demand the information.

To improve these two steps it is advisable to keep the brain healthy and to train it.

There are many articles on the net, explaining how to improve memory performance.

These are some of the suggested steps to achieving improvement:

1. Training your brain.

The brain elasticity allows, as similar to muscles, to be trained.

It is mandatory always to try to think and remember, especially with new things and far from routine.

It is hard for the brain to storage events, and it is even harder to retrieve them when needed. So, learning and implementing is important. The more you use the already known, the more accessible will be. Explained simply, when acting many times, you become experienced allowing the brain to store and present the information, consuming less energy every new time.

It is important to mention here that the training will not increase the basic intelligence of a person. The practice aims to improve the performance of a particular skill.

2. Approach daily physic exercise as a way of life.

Exercising daily will keep the brain healthy and sharp, due to the increase of oxygen reaching the area, together with other chemicals, mainly hormones like serotonin.

Any aerobics will do the job. The essential factor to consider is to make the heart to work harder than usual, causing fresh blood reaching the brain (and other organs as well).

Even better will be combining the aerobics with some coordination exercises.

3. Sleeping is important.

The two factors to consider regarding sleeping are quantity and quality.

The advice is sleeping from 7 to 9 hours. However, this is not enough by itself, it has to be quality sleep.

There are many tips regarding quality sleep; I'll write another article about, someday.

4. Eating healthy.

Everything influences the brain. We have senses perceiving the environment and influencing the brain, and our body is also affected by things we consume, food, liquids, drugs (medicines) and air.

Again, this is a vast topic and I'll write another article about, someday.

5. Medical problems and diseases.

It is evident that you should take care of these because besides their local influence, they also challenge the brain and the memory.

6. Avoid stress.

Stress is also a medical condition. The advice is to lower stress as much as possible.

Meditation is an excellent way to go if you prefer to avoid chemical treatment.

7. Interacting with people.

Social interaction challenges and trains the brain and improves memory performance.

It is important to be in touch with others, besides colleagues at work. Diversifying contacts will result in a constant activity of the brain.

Think flexible thinking:

8. Nootropics.

Nootropics, also known as smart drugs, are organic or synthetic chemicals claiming to affect different parts of the brain.

They are treated as supplements, and not under the FDA regulations.

Some foods' components are seen as nootropics.

As of today, there is not enough research on the topic. Personal experiences and reviews should be treated with caution.

I'll write another article about that, someday.

After hours of readings and assimilation, I'll for sure implement some of the advice.

I'll let you know about my memory improvement through my performance here.

Please feel free to contact should you have questions regarding the article.

Yours, Antonella.
