I the fallen one
I have regressed to progress
I have absorbed all the stress
Eaten in excess
And now I’m on Slim Fast
Freedom is my goal
Slavery is consensus reality
I philosophize every day
To no avail
I tried to wake people up
Until I shut myself down
I need to recharge
More than most
I need to expand
When the walls hold me in
But they cannot
They are not capable
They cannot touch me
Every inch I have given
Has resulted in miles walked
These are the miles
You cannot take from me
It’s never enough
To achieve my goals
Because I keep digging
Myself into this hole
So why not take action?
Why not be present?
When I really only want
Out of this?
When I hear “Get a new job.”
I translate “Dig a new hole.”
Because that’s all they’re asking me to do
They never want me just to walk in the woods
But they do not own me
They do not have any say
Why am I writing this
At 2 A.M.?
Perhaps I am conflicted
About the job I will be really tired at tomorrow.
It eats my life away
Expects too much of my time
In essence I should be thankful
But I can see the walls
I can hear the ghosts
Perhaps the poltergeist
Is the ghost of my dreams
Shattered but attainable
As I have been beaten down
And as the phoenix I am again rising
But this time it’s personal
You can taste the entropy
Seething from me
There is no positive or negative
There just is
The ultimate reality
Unveils the illusion
