After the harvest is over, it's a sign that we have more work to do in the garden.
When harvest time is approaching, we naturally enjoy the days when we have little work to do. We simply water the plants without fertilizing them.
Then, when the harvest is over, more work awaits. Just like in my garden. Some time ago, I did a lot of harvesting. One by one, my plants are entering the end of their productive phase.
I only have a few polybags of lettuce and a few polybags of white bakchoi left. I will harvest them gradually, only taking the lowest leaves.
Meanwhile, my baby green bean plants are entering the end of their productive period. Also, due to the lack of sunlight, the green bean plants are not growing optimally. I decided to remove all the green beans and replace them with other plants later.
Before planting other plants, I will first process the used growing medium from the green bean plants. This process aims to re-fertilize the growing medium. Of course, there were also a lot of remaining roots in the planting medium, so we had to loosen it again.
I had to remove the used planting medium one by one from the polybags. I collected the bundles of planting medium in one area. After I cleaned out the remaining roots, I let the used planting medium dry in the sun for a few days.
It's currently the dry season in my area; it hasn't rained for a month. So I didn't have to worry about drying the used planting medium. I just had to cover the planting medium with bamboo to prevent cats from playing on it and to prevent them from defecating.
After three days, I felt the planting medium had dried enough. Next, I prepared the burnt rice husks and goat manure.
I mixed the used planting medium with the burnt rice husks and the fermented, fine goat manure.
I mixed them thoroughly. Then, I transferred the ready-to-use planting medium into the white pots.
I've prepared six white pots. I'm going to plant long beans. I've also sown the long bean seeds, and they're ready to be transplanted into the white pots I've prepared.
That afternoon, I transplanted the long bean seedlings into the white pots I've prepared.
