Have you ever had “me time” in the kitchen? People who like to cook will use cooking as a medium for creative thinking and as a space for “me time”. Including me, who likes cooking activities for "me time" and thinks about many things for self-improvement.
Cooking activities have plenty of room for the mind to come up with fresh new ideas. Indeed, there are times when cooking is really time-consuming, but there are times when cooking can give us time to think about things that can provide ideas or solutions for our work.
When cooking activities, the mind does not only think about the food itself. Thoughts can go beyond the things we have been thinking about.
So while cooking, I will usually train my mind to think of new ideas for my writing. Apart from that, it also trains my mind to create positive vibrations and practice affirmative action.
Like gardening, cooking can also be used as a medium to talk deeply to ourselves. We give ourselves new commandments to be led by positive things. I usually like to say rather strong positive things, like I'm singing and I say it all with a smile. It was enough to affect my mental growth for the better.
Food preparation is an interesting activity as well as saving time in the kitchen for the next day. Food ingredients are stored neatly and help us organize various types of food in the storage area. Organizing it is also influential for us to save time when preparing dishes because we don't have to bother looking for these ingredients that have been stored neatly before.
I love doing food preparation. Including cleaning vegetables and fruits. Cut food ingredients, and group and store them in containers. It's a satisfying activity and I can use it as the time to think about many things other than the food itself of course.
Like I did this time. I prepare vegetables to then clean and store in containers then save in the refrigerator. That helps the vegetables last longer and saves on my subsequent cooking process.
Here I clean the vegetables I just bought from a traditional night market. There are 'pakcoy', cauliflower, and cucumber.
Pakcoy is my favorite vegetable, but they quickly rot if I don't do "Food preparation". So what I do is pay attention to the parts that are scratched due to the buying and selling process in the market. That can cause vegetables to rot quickly.
After removing the parts that are not good, then I clean the vegetables with a dry and clean cloth.
I don't wash my vegetables because I'm worried that I won't dry them well and that it will only speed up the rotting of the vegetables. So I prefer to clean the vegetables with a clean rag until the vegetables are no longer wet.
Vegetables can be cut into pieces according to taste, before being arranged in an airtight container.
The thing to note is that if you are not sure your vegetable containers are not airtight, then you must cover the containers with tissue to avoid moisture on the inside.
I love being able to do food preparation once a week, or sometimes more often. It can make food ingredients last longer. But the most important thing is that I can “me time” and make myself more positive.
How about you guys? Do you like doing food preparation?
