Hi, my lovely brothers and sisters, today is a good day, as our Creator allows us to share what I require. My dear Hive followers, I want to say something about cultural practices. Cultural practice involves many different types of lifestyles. Today, I was practising my lifestyle activities by cooking in our cultural methods. These methods of coking are the way our oldest grandfathers were involved in their lifestyles in our community in the village.
Today, I participated in a local food cooking activity in our village, where traditional meals were prepared using firewood. This cultural practice has been passed down through generations and helps preserve our community's heritage and traditions.
During the activity, I had the opportunity to learn from experienced community members and elders about traditional cooking methods, food preparation, and the importance of using local ingredients. The food was cooked in traditional pots over an open fire, giving it an authentic taste and connecting us to the customs of our ancestors.
This experience taught me valuable cultural skills and helped me better understand the importance of preserving our traditions. It also brought community members together, promoting unity, cooperation, and respect for our cultural heritage. Through activities like this, we keep our traditions alive and pass them on to future generations.
After I put the firewood on the fire and place the sufuria (cooking pot) on top, I add clean water and wait for it to boil. Then I prepare the local food ingredients, such as maize flour, cassava, sweet potatoes, beans, vegetables, or bananas, depending on what is available in our village. As the food cooks, I carefully stir it using a wooden cooking stick to make sure it cooks well and does not burn.
While cooking, family members and neighbours often gather around the fireplace, sharing stories, advice, and village news. This traditional way of cooking helps preserve our culture and strengthens community relationships. I learned these cooking skills from elders in our village, and today I continue practising them as part of our cultural heritage. Through these activities, I gain knowledge, respect our traditions, and help keep our local customs alive for future generations.
