PREPARING PLANT-BASED BREAKFAST
Sweet potatoes are a staple food to me, like rice that can be combined with any side dish that has a dominant savory and spicy taste.
For those who are not familiar, it might be a little strange with sweet potatoes combined with side dishes. Maybe because sweet potatoes have a slightly sweet taste, in contrast to potatoes which tend to be bland.
As for me, I like both. So I made them a variation of my daily diet. Sometimes I have sweet potatoes and sometimes other days I have potatoes.
This time I will share my activities to prepare a plant-based breakfast with the menu "Boiled Sweet Potatoes With Spicy Tempeh".
As usual, I'll also include how I add anesthetic to my dishes. Stay tuned!
Spicy Sauce is King
My breakfast this time was predominantly savory and spicy. So I use the spicy sauce as a base for plating.
I form the sauce in the center of the plate because I'm going to put a boiled sweet potato on top.
Honestly, shaping the sauce on the plate is a difficult thing, at least for me who is not a professional chef. I am still learning many things to do this. Usually, in my mind, I want to form a sauce pattern like this, but in practice, the sauce that I form is beyond my expectations. Furthermore, I also had to adjust the layout of the main ingredients in the sauce.
Forms Sweet Potatoes
The formation of sweet potatoes into a certain shape is a way to match the shape of the sauce that has been laid out on the plate.
This time I sliced the sweet potato slowly, but I didn't let one slice separate from the other. The sweet potato slices should stick together to form a nice pattern over the sauce.
Added Side Dishes
It's time to add spicy tempeh to the plate. I have to think about how to keep the spicy tempeh from ruining the neatly shaped sauces and sweet potatoes on the plate.
I decided to put spicy tempeh on the top and bottom of the sweet potatoes. This is to balance the shape of this whole dish.
Added Vegetables
I want my plate not to miss even a little of the crunchy vegetables. So I added fresh carrots and cucumber slices.
For carrots, I make thin slices following the circle pattern of the carrot itself.
Then for the cucumber, I sliced the cucumber lengthwise and thinly. Then I carefully rolled the cucumber slices so they didn't break.
Carrot and cucumber slices are placed on a plate between the sweet potatoes and spicy tempeh to consider a balanced composition.
Ready!
I have a plant-based breakfast dish that is out of the box even though it's only made from simple ingredients.
I am happy with my creation because it can save me from the boredom of my daily diet.
What do you think of the breakfast I prepared today? Is this strange enough for you, or would you like to try it?
Thank you for reading my food blog. I hope that there will be new inspirations that can be taken from my food blog by you. Thank you for your time, and enjoy your day!
Until next!
