Have you ever heard of the Batak pepper, special spices from the Batak tribe in North Sumatra, called “Andaliman Pepper”? I've heard of it but have never tried the typical dish that uses the “Andaliman Pepper” seasoning.
Basically, the taste of “Andaliman Pepper” is like pepper in general. However, “Andaliman Pepper” has a citrus taste and a slightly bitter aftertaste. But it will be enough to warm your body.
So when I stayed at KAMA HOTEL, in the Medan City, I was lucky to be able to taste MIE GORENG ANDALIMAN (Fried Noodles With Andaliman Pepper) at Kama Restaurant.
Incidentally, that day I got my first dose of vaccine. Andaliman, which has a strong enough taste that is more than just spicy, is actually able to increase endurance.
Based on the sources I read, “Andaliman Pepper” can be useful for increasing immunity so that the body's health does not drop easily, especially when tired. So it can help us to reduce the risk of disease.
It sounds good! So I enjoy Mie Goreng Andaliman happily! The taste is quite unique with the Batak pepper. There is a spicy and sour taste typical of oranges and bitterness that lingers on the tip of my tongue.
MIE GORENG ANDALIMAN (Fried Noodles With Andaliman Pepper) served with a sprinkling of fried onions which further enhances the delicious aroma. Also a delicious coconut milk cracker.
Not to forget, pickled cucumber and carrots, as well as additional spicy chili sauce for people who can't live without spicy taste.
For drinks, there is a glass of cold sweet tea that is always easily found in restaurants in Medan and other cities in Indonesia.
Actually, the menu I ordered was included in a promotional package from the hotel that got a discount. So for the noodle and iced package, I paid IDR35,000 / USD2.5.
Prices are quite affordable for food at the hotel. It is also quite delicious and has offered a new pleasant taste experience on my tongue.
Do you have local pepper in your area which has a stronger taste than general pepper? I'm so excited to hear about authentic spices from your area.
