More Than Just Appearance
The other day, while riding a bus, I overheard two schoolgirls talking; one told the other she didn't look good, and the other replied that she disliked looking in the mirror because she wasn't pleased with her own image. This made me reflect on the power of image—but exactly which image are we talking about?
When we are born, our parents nourish us with beautiful, loving words; yet, as we grow up, we somehow begin to forget them. Those of us blessed with loving parents receive that affection and words of encouragement—love that sees beyond the outward appearance to the true self dwelling within us.
I have always been grateful for the father—and the mother—life gave me. They see no flaws in their children; consequently, when I meet new people, I expect the same level of care and appreciation I receive from my parents. This highlights the importance of the environment in which we grow up.
Ultimately, appearance holds whatever value we choose to give it; above all, however, we must learn to care for ourselves and shield ourselves from the impact of others' opinions. It is vital to strengthen our inner worth, respect ourselves, and cultivate a positive attitude.
Thank you, Life, for so much love and for helping me understand that while appearance matters, what truly counts is our inner state and how we feel inside.
I invite you to reflect and share your moments with Liketu and your @talentos too.
Fondly
