Hello Hive community, today I will tell you about one of the best and most beautiful Christmas family traditions that year after year we hope and do with great affection: Making Hallacas with my family nucleus ♥
Why is it so cute? Well everyone in the house gets into a super Christmas mood, we put bagpipes in the background and we start with the elaboration of one of the most iconic (and my favorite) dishes of Venezuelan Christmas.
They really should be done in the middle of the year too, I always miss them a lot t.t hahaha.
For those who do not know what they are, roughly it is a flour dough painted with onoto, stuffed with a rich stew with beef and / or chicken and / or pork + the basic vegetables commonly used to enhance the seasoning of meals. + olives, capers and raisins (the latter I must confess that I always take them off, since I don't like them cooked). All this wrapped in a banana leaf and well tied with wick to later be boiled a little less than half an hour and voila, a whole gastronomic work <3
As its preparation is a whole process (which is very worthwhile), stations are made for each person to help with something (that if one stretches the dough, another fills them and closes them, another ties them and so on), all while talk and listen to music.
Another nice thing about the tradition is that in addition to making the "home" Hallas (for Christmas dinner, New Year's dinner and the extras to eat occasionally), they also tend to make exclusive ones to distribute (to family and friends close) so that they also try and enjoy them, generating then a rich exchange and even a mini imaginary contest of which one was better hahaha.
