Well no, ok fine... it's totally my own fault but for now I'm going to try blaming coffee because what might befall me later today will possibly be easier to handle if I can at least possibly blame coffee for it.
Last night I did not sleep well. That was not coffee's fault, that has it's own variety of reasons and coffee will not be held accountable. I had about two hours of sleep overall and today has not been particularly pleasant as a result. I've still managed to function more or less but only because of coffee...coffee that I might just regret.
The problem was that somewhere in the vicinity there is a plumbing problem that the municipality has been working on since yesterday morning. I didn't have water for some of yesterday but it did come back on in the late afternoon and I stupidly assumed that the problem had been rectified. It hadn't.
This morning I shuffled my way to the kitchen in a kind of zombified way, swollen eyes all blurry and I tried to fill up the kettle. I only managed to get two cups of coffee out of the kettle before I ran out of water. Insert your favourite form of profanity here, it will suffice. I was only a few hours into the day when my headache set in and set me off on a downward spiral. I became desperate as I was in the middle of a website backup and then I remembered I had a reserve 5Litre bottle of water in the cupboard. So I took it out and had a look at it.
It wasn't a sealed bottle of water. Looked okay though. Smelled okay too. What could possibly go wrong - right? This sentence should be erased from my existance because it's the most idiotic way to justify doing something that could potentially kill me and is generally accompanied by a shrug of my shoulders. I poured water into the kettle and turned it on. Made the cup of coffee. Drank it with painkillers.
I'm still alive and I haven't suffered any side effects just yet but I have a suspicion that I might regret this decision making process later. Especially seeing as I have to drive for 2 hours in the morning.
Have you ever done something this moronic out of pure exhaustion, desperation and stupidity? I'm definitely not the brightest spark in the box and probably won't last long when the zombie apocalypse sets in. I still have 4.8Litres of bottled water left... what could possibly go wrong - right?
