Did you know that the chocolate "Alenka" was one of the most famous Soviet brands? The chocolate was called by name of the first Soviet woman astronaut's daughter, but the face of this chocolate was another Soviet girl.
A curious fact: the chocolate "Alenka" appeared by the decision of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
Confectioners were given the task to launch in the production a chocolate with high quality and at an affordable price.
At the same time there were no artificial additives in chocolate. According to the recipe, which was approved in 1967, the production of this chocolate used grated cocoa, powdered sugar, milk powder and cream and vanilla essence.
Along with the recipe there was a question of creating a bright and recognizable wrapper. As a result, the daughter of the artist Alexander Gerinas was choosen.

Herinas's wife made a photo of their daughter in 1960 when she turned 8 months old.
So in 1966 there appeared a package for chocolate, which became recognizable not only in the USSR but also beyond its borders.
