Chiropractic is one of the alternative means of manual therapy mostly specializing in spinal pain relief. It works with spinal problems, joints and the inner organs. It is one of the most ancient means of manual therapy. Its theory is based on the conclusion that most of the diseases in the human organism appear because of the wrong bone building. It causes the wrong work of muscles and nerves in the entire human body.

Chiropractic is a quite severe and painful technique of putting the problem joints and spinal bones into the right position. It received its second birth in the times of gold rush. When thousands of people moved to seek their luck to Klondike, they needed to work hard in hard conditions and almost all of them had problems with the spine. Also, the conditions they lived in, weren’t very much equipped with medical service, and all the local doctors could offer them to relieve their pain were their tough fists.

The system of chiropractic work was created in the USA by David Daniel Palmer (1845 - 1913), a talented doctor who discovered the vertebral therapy and its usefulness. He could cure deafness and heart diseases by working with spinal bones. Palmer was convinced that the diseases occur because of misplaced spinal bones that block the energy flow through the human body.

Chiropractic therapy works not only with the spinal bones but with the acanthus too by using them as levers. This alternative practice is effective not only against the back pain but also helps to solve the problems with breathing organs, allergy, and abdominal pains. There is a special branch of it – visceral chiropractic that cures the abdominal organs by manual correction.

The technique of manual treatment is determined individually by the pain doctor and patient. The way of putting the hands over the sick organ, its intensiveness and order are changing until the result won’t be achieved and the pain won’t go away and the organ will be put into its right place lost in the process of disease.
