One of the reasons communities like Hive are thriving is because mainstream platforms are specifically designed and engineered for addiction, triggering and profit at all cost ; And to achieve their designated purpose they hook, trigger and addict by appealing to our worst in us.

Envy is triggered by boasting, bragging, displays of success, fame and glamour; That leads to superficiality and a lack of meaningful connections

Falsehood and lack of authenticity generate an inaccurate view of the world, which then leads to an unhealthy self image, which leads to depression and ultimately can lead to suicide.

Idleness generates a need for constant stimulation which leads to compulsive media consumption. Social media is by default void of a strong sense of meaning or purpose and so it becomes a waste of time and potential -that's your life.

Constant distractions are an attack on your clarity and the ability to think straight. Fake news, misinformation and disinformation actively deceive and skew the way you see the world.

Lack of empathy; Over-exposure leads to people being desensitized and disconnected from their humanity;

Cyber bullying happens because social media allows people to disconnect from their humanity and start treating people like objects. Behind the screen some people allow themselves to be very cruel towards others.

Polarization happens when people start seeing reality mainly in a dual white-or-black thinking.

Dissatisfaction, righteousness, hate and demonization becomes an easy way to feel good about yourself while blaming others.

**Us versus them thinking **makes you feel special and part of a community while putting down the other side.

**Data and privacy issues **needs little to no further explanation, they sell our data to make money.

Social media today looks more like a mind virus or a harmful drug than what it was supposed to be. I'm absolutely sure that we will solve this in the future, but for now if one would try to create a better platform that is designed and built to actually make people's lives better -it would not be very popular one...

To have better platforms of interaction, we need to raise our standards first. The current mainstream platforms we have and use are a reflection of their creators faults as much of an indication of what we tolerate in them.
