There is a different kind of fun in high mana battles when it comes to monster selection where you get more opportunity to choose your best monsters from your deck position them correctly and plan your monsters according to whatever hard rulesets are given. Because when the mana is high you also have more options.
Todays 80 mana battle was very interesting and most importantly there were two rulesets where we got the opportunity to use monsters with as many abilities as possible. In other words monsters with abilities were given preference in these rulesets.
To win any battle it is important that you first read and understand the rulesets properly and then adapt your strategy accordingly. If your monster selection is according to the ruleset then surely your chances of winning the battle become much higher.
So what monster selection did I make in this 80 mana battle and what was my strategy? Let’s first look at the rulesets.
Ruleset 1: What Doesn't Kill You
According to this ruleset all units whether they are allied units or enemy units get the Enrage ability. And what does Enrage do? It increases their melee power by plus 50 percent and also increases their speed by plus 50 percent but with one condition: the monster should not be at full health.
For example if your monster is at full health this Enrage ability will have no effect on that monster. But as soon as it is struck meaning when it is attacked and its health decreases the Enrage ability will be applied and its melee power and speed will increase by plus 50 percent.
So according to this ruleset your strategy should be to give more preference to melee attack monsters and try to select as many monsters as possible that have a good combination of melee attack and speed because according to this ruleset they are given preference and their power and speed increase by plus 50 percent.
Ruleset 2: Fog of War
According to this ruleset all units whether they belong to the allied side or the enemy side will lose these three abilities which include Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity.
These three special and common abilities are found in many monsters but according to this ruleset these abilities will not remain on any monster and you cannot use these abilities.
So instead of focusing on these abilities you should try as much as possible to give preference to your high health tank monsters and strong melee attackers. You should properly select these types of monsters from your deck and position them correctly.
My strategy and monster selection
According to these rules I adopted my strategy. First of all I selected my Archon monster with the plus one health ability. Because of this all of my units get a plus one increase in health. This means the tank monsters I selected become even stronger and are able to absorb high attacks.
After that I selected a frontline tank monster that has very good health and also has two attack power. Its job will be to attack from close range and at the same time it has the ability to absorb the damage from enemy attacks so that the other allied units remain protected.
In the second position I selected a monster with the Reach ability which will continue making melee attacks even while staying in the second position.
According to the rules I selected three melee attackers. Because of this there was a chance for their power and speed to increase by 50 percent.
So in the third position I also selected a healer monster. If my first two monsters were eliminated the third monster could survive and continue fighting in the battle for a long time.
After that from the middle position to the last position I kept a mixed combination of ranged and magic attackers that would continue dealing heavy damage to enemy units with heavy strikes.
On the battlefield
When I looked at my monsters and the enemy monsters in the battle for a moment I thought that perhaps the enemy's monster selection was also very strong and this could become a very exciting competition.
Believe me this was a really amazing battle where the competition remained very close until the final rounds. One monster from each side was being eliminated one after another. Until the final rounds it was not clear which team was winning.
From Round One to Round Two we saw heavy strikes from both sides. But unfortunately in Round Three one of my monsters which was my frontline monster was destroyed. This caused me quite a lot of concern.
Then in Round Four again my second tank monster which I had selected with the Reach ability was also eliminated. For a moment I thought that perhaps I had lost this battle.
But because I still had a tank monster in the third position and it was also a healer I was still quite satisfied and confident.
Then in Round Five the game changed a little and two enemy units were eliminated. At this stage the battle was three versus four meaning four of my monsters survived while three enemy monsters were still alive.
In Round Six my strong healer was also eliminated and the battle became three versus three.
From Round Seven to Round Nine strong attacks were coming from both sides. In the end it became a one versus one battle. Because I had kept my last monster with high health my final monster survived because of that.
Then in Round Thirteen the enemy's last unit was also eliminated and in this way I got a very good victory.
In this battle I would call my favorite monster my last position magic monster Time Bandit. Because of its survival and its continuous attacks I was able to achieve victory in this battle.
So in battles and rulesets like these what would your strategy be and which monsters would you give more preference to? will be glad to see your answers in the comment section.
