Hello fellow photography enthusiasts, it's been several days since I've shared anything with you, beautiful people. Yesterday, as has been happening lately with Cubans, I had to cook over charcoal, not for recreation but out of necessity due to the crisis the country is experiencing. Of course, I couldn't miss the opportunity to show the flames as they grew.

Fire has been part of humanity's development and growth in different ways; it's destructive but also comforting and friendly in winter or for cooking what we're going to eat.

After lighting the charcoal, the flames know how to build themselves up, licking their source of fuel and consuming it little by little.

That helped me remember two poems I wrote a long time ago:

I cease to be an island, (what it was meant to be)
the word felt its heat,
it was vaporized,
to be part of the whole,
to fly, to fall in the body of another.

Then, an old man said:
"Let the one who uttered the word step forward."
"I," replied the fire, subtly.
"I am." The word,
bit my hand.

Fire often seems like a real socialism,
pragmatic and enduring.

Fire sometimes sleeps,
but what about the other?

The truth is that fire has always been a part of my life in one way or another, and here it is in the diverse forms it can appear in. But beware, it is not a toy, despite the beauty it possesses as it plays with oxygen, and which certainly fascinates and dazzles some.

I hope that this harmless fire, which only lives on eternally in photographs, is truly beautiful.
