Although people say that everything happening in the world is normal, I don't feel that way. I understand that earthquakes are "normal" and that they are a natural phenomenon that we cannot change, predict, or prevent; the earth simply needs to release energy, it's necessary. But now many things seem to be piling up, one misfortune after another. Luckily, this latest "misfortune" didn't claim as many lives, but the storms that have battered our country in recent days have been worrying. Ultimately, the blame doesn't lie with the rain itself; it rained heavily, but what really contributes to this disaster is the lack of maintenance on the streets of Caracas.
Lately, I feel like we're living on the edge, like we're in some kind of Squid Game where you don't know if you'll still be alive in the next round, haha. It sounds pretty ridiculous and cruel, but that's how I feel. Every night is uncertain, not knowing what tomorrow will bring. To all this misfortune, as I mentioned, were added the heavy rains, overflowing rivers, and people trapped on flooded highways. It was awful; I even think two people died (as far as I know). Nature is terrifying because these things are so difficult to avoid, to prevent, especially in a country like this where we don't have enough preparedness for disasters.
I'm lucky to say that nothing serious happened here, but we were very scared by the rain, the lightning that lit up my whole room, and the street also flooded a little. You can't really see it in the photo because I took it from far away. Honestly, I was VERY afraid to get too close to the window since I've always thought I could get struck by lightning, haha. At that moment it was raining quite hard and the cars passing by looked like boats.
Furthermore, earthquakes are becoming more and more common, a normality I never intend to get used to. Today marks two months since the earthquake, and I swear it's a day none of us will forget. I still feel like it's a dream and that it never happened; it's too difficult to process so many misfortunes.
