Mini TV for our cell phone

Esto fue mas bien una practica porque no quedo como quería, tampoco tenia los colores que me gustan, pero realmente necesitaba algo para apoyar mi celular, sobre todo cuando estoy cocinando ya que me gusta ver videos o escuchar algo mientras cocino y correr el riesgo de apoyar el celular por un envase ya no estaba siendo rentable, menos después de que hace poco le cambiamos la pantalla a mi celular. En fin, esta idea la vi hace mucho tiempo, de hecho tambien venden estos aparatitos para colocar el celular, mi idea principal era hacer un soporte de celular normal, pero recordé esta versión y me encanto, asi que me puse a hacer mi mini tv con los pocos materiales que tenía.

This was more of a practice run because it didn't turn out the way I wanted, nor did it have the colors I like, but I really needed something to hold my cell phone, especially when I'm cooking, since I like to watch videos or listen to something while I cook, and running the risk of resting my cell phone on a container was no longer feasible, especially after we recently replaced the screen on my cell phone. Anyway, I saw this idea a long time ago. In fact, they also sell these little gadgets for holding your cell phone. My main idea was to make a normal cell phone holder, but I remembered this version and loved it, so I set about making my mini TV with the few materials I had.

Primero tome una hoja cuadriculada y con un lápiz marque el borde de mi celular, luego agregue unas líneas alrededor un poco mas gruesas para luego recortarlo y tener mi molde. Este molde lo use para recrear estas figuras en el cartón, fue bastante complicado ya que use un cartón muy grueso y realmente difícil de cortar. Luego tome uno de los cartones y le hice un hueco en el medio el cual lo hice del mismo tamaño que el celular y ese fue mi segundo error, debía hacerlo mas pequeño para que el celular quedara justo en la pantalla, tambien recorte la misma figura en una pieza de foami blanco escarchado que era el único foami que tenia ene se momento.

First, I took a sheet of graph paper and traced the outline of my cell phone with a pencil, then added some slightly thicker lines around it so I could cut it out and have my template. I used this template to recreate these shapes on the cardboard, which was quite complicated because I used very thick cardboard that was really difficult to cut. Then I took one of the pieces of cardboard and made a hole in the middle, which I made the same size as the cell phone, and that was my second mistake. I should have made it smaller so that the cell phone would fit right on the screen. I also cut out the same shape in a piece of white frosted foam, which was the only foam I had at the time.

Pegue el foami del cartón forrándolo por completo y luego coloque mi celular encima del hueco para medir donde debía poner más cartón y asi lograr que el celular se sostenga al meterlo. Calculé el ancho y coloqué tiras de cartón alrededor. Luego pegue ambos cartones y en las esquinas para que no quedara ese hueco vacío forre con foami, esta vez usé foami marrón oscuro escarchado porque no tenia otro color, aunque esta combinación no me gustó, pero no podía hacer nada.

Glue the foam onto the cardboard, covering it completely, and then place your cell phone on top of the hole to measure where you need to add more cardboard so that the cell phone stays in place when you put it in. Calculate the width and place strips of cardboard around it. Then I glued both pieces of cardboard together and covered the corners with foam to fill in the empty space. This time I used dark brown frosted foam because I didn't have any other color, and although I didn't like this combination, there was nothing I could do about it.

Ahora faltaban los detalles pequeños, si quería que pareciera un TV debía agregar los botones, me pareció buena idea hacerlo con otro color, en este caso elegí un rosa pastel que me quedaba un pedacito de este color y me alcanzó para hacer los botones, luego hice una pieza de cartón que pegue en la parte de atrás que serviría como soporte y tambien la forre con foami marrón.

Now it was time for the small details. If I wanted it to look like a TV, I had to add the buttons. I thought it would be a good idea to use a different color, so I chose pastel pink, as I had a little bit of this color left over and it was enough to make the buttons. Then I made a piece of cardboard to stick on the back to serve as a support and covered it with brown foam.

Luego recorte una pieza que hice para simular las antenas del tv y la forre con rosa, pegue pequeños palitos sobre esta pieza y encima de los palitos dos piedritas de maquillaje que simularían ser la parte superior de la antena.

Then I cut out a piece to simulate the TV antennas and covered it with pink paper. I glued small sticks onto this piece and placed two small makeup stones on top of the sticks to simulate the top of the antenna.

No, no quedo perfecto y eso me molesta pero quiero verlo como una experiencia y prueba para la próxima vez, ya que cometí muchos errores que no volveré a repetir, empezando por elegir un cartón mas suave para poder recortar las piezas mejor sin tantas imperfecciones y sin destruirme las manos, tambien la elección de color hacerla mejor la próxima vez, y un mejor acabado en general ya que algunas partes el foami no me alcanzo y tuve que hacer cortes muy feos, al menos cumple su función perfectamente y ahora puedo usar mi celular en la cocina con mas alivio y seguridad de que no se me va a caer, además hacer esto me distrajo un poco de toda la tensión que hemos vivido estos últimos días en el país. Hay muchas maneras de hacer este soporte de celular y bueno, aquí compartí mi desastre, espero que les guste y les sirva de algo.

No, it's not perfect, and that bothers me, but I want to see it as an experience and a test for next time, since I made a lot of mistakes that I won't repeat, starting with choosing a softer cardboard so I can cut the pieces better without so many imperfections and without destroying my hands. I'll also choose the color better next time, and a better finish in general, since I didn't have enough foam for some parts and had to make some very ugly cuts. At least it works perfectly, and now I can use my cell phone in the kitchen with more peace of mind and confidence that it won't fall. Plus, making this distracted me a little from all the tension we've been experiencing in the country these last few days.
