On our wonderful trip to Falcón State, we stayed at a fairly simple inn that I didn’t like very much at first, but in the end I didn’t want to leave. It was actually a good experience—we were comfortable and nothing bad happened—so I really don’t have any complaints overall. Although it’s not a luxury inn, the rooms were at least comfortable and had air conditioning—because, let me tell you, it’s horribly hot there. The temperature difference between the room and outside was brutal; as soon as I stepped out of the room, my glasses would fog up immediately.
This inn has a very colorful, rustic design, which I liked because it reminded me so much of the houses in Anzoátegui (another state where my mother’s family lives), and at times I felt like I was right back there—plus, the heat is just the same, haha. There were many rooms; they offered us the largest one since there were four adults and two children, and even then we had an extra bed—but it’s better to have one too many than not enough. I slept quite comfortably in that bed; I’m someone who has a really hard time sleeping anywhere other than at home, and I don’t know if maybe the exhaustion from the trip helped, but I slept soundly.
But for me, the best part was the pool—I can’t even tell you how excited I was to have a pool right outside my room. I love pools, beaches, and rivers, so I was really happy to be able to swim as much as I wanted, and that’s exactly what happened. I spent a lot of time in the pool at night and also the next day until it was time to leave. This pool is a little small, but I loved it because I don’t know how to swim and it wasn’t very deep, so it was perfect for the kids—and for me, too, hahaha.
The day after we left, I felt a little nostalgic—I didn't want the weekend to end—and at the same time, I was pretty exhausted because the trip had been long. We had a great time at the beach; we got a lot of sun and spent many hours by the pool. I was looking forward to getting home to sleep, but at the same time, I wanted to stay there forever.
But at the end of the day, I'm grateful for this unique time spent with my family, where I was able to take a break from my everyday life for two days, and even though I'm still tired, I'm feeling pretty good emotionally.
