My Daily Training |
Hello, a warm greeting to all my friends in the #liketu and #hive communities, and a very special greeting to all my friends and colleagues in the #swc community! It's an honor to be able to address you at this moment. My name is Alejo (@alejo-sw), I'm a calisthenics athlete, and today I want to share with you all about my day, especially my training.
Today was one of those days when my body was screaming for an intense workout, but my mind, with more prudence, had to set a different pace. My right elbow injury, that pesky companion, keeps reminding me that patience isn't optional, but a fundamental part of the process. So, accepting reality, my session became a dialogue with my limits, trying not to push myself but without giving up completely.
I started, as expected, with a long stretching session. I felt every muscle fiber unwind, paying special attention to the extensors and flexors of my affected arm, searching for that point of tension just before the pain. Then, I moved on to a thorough wrist warm-up, making gentle circles and carefully flexing them, aware that the entire kinetic chain originates there and a well-prepared wrist relieves tension upstream.
I then decided to tackle push-ups, but with a controlled and limited range of motion. Pike push-ups were the next stop, maintaining an angle that didn't cause that familiar twinge in the joint. I practiced the much-desired Lean Planche with a very moderate, almost minimal, incline, feeling the work in my shoulders and core but without the brutal strain on my elbow tendons. Diamond push-ups, which are usually a joy for the triceps, were today an exercise in precision, with my hands barely separated to reduce the pressure.
I couldn't resist the temptation to practice a little handstand, although it was only a couple of very brief attempts, mainly seeking the sensation of inverting my body and hand position. To finish the strength training, I put on the resistance band to assist me in the advanced Tuck Planche. It was comforting to be able to maintain the position with that support, reminding me of the form I want to achieve when I'm at 100%.
As I put the band away, my feeling is bittersweet. On the one hand, the frustration of not being able to give my all; this dip in morale is undeniable. It's like having the engine at full throttle but with the handbrake on. However, I also know, with a reassuring certainty, that these days of smart management are what build resilience. This isn't a step backward; it's a different way of moving forward.
I'm so grateful you've read this far. Sharing this is therapeutic in itself. I know this is just a phase, and I'm completely convinced that I'll be better, stronger, and wiser when I overcome this obstacle. Recovery will come; it's just a matter of time and perseverance.
